111SKIN Sub-Zero De-Puffing Energy Facial Mask – Review

111SKIN

I recently received this as one of my freebies in a Cult Beauty ‘Buyers Edit’ promo. It instantly stood out to me as soon as I pulled it out the box & I knew I was going to have to try & review it as it was developed & created by a Dr on Harley Street in London.

As you may or may not know, Harley Street is well known for it’s abundance of private medical healthcare, from plastic surgery to life-saving treatments – it is bursting with incredibly talented medical professionals. I am obsessed. I definitely had high expectations because of this…

This particular mask is from Dr Yannis Alexandrides who specialises in facial reconstruction & rejuvenation. He wanted to encourage recovery in his post-treatment patients, so he developed a healing serum & continued from there.

This cruelty-free, biodegradable hydrogel mask feels almost like a jelly. It’s packed with a formula to reduce dullness, energise & de-puff skin. It’s drainage stimulating & has cooling ingredients, including caffeine. There is no scent to the mask either!

My first impression when I applied the mask was disappointment in the poor fitting of the mask. My face is nothing to go by however, as I do have a tiny pea head! The mask is in two parts – upper & lower face & mine seemed to overlap considerably, causing the bottom part to flop off occasionally – in the end I did manage to get it to stay still! I set my timer for 20 minutes & sat back to relax!

It doesn’t tingle or burn on the skin at all, but it definitely had a cooling effect which felt really refreshing. When I first removed it, I looked in the mirror & was pretty miffed. I looked the same – why hadn’t I turned into a glowing goddess?!

I patted in the remaining product, although to be fair, it had absorbed in pretty well over the past 20 minutes. My skin didn’t feel sticky or slimy. I gave it 20 minutes & went back to the mirror. This time, I felt better…my skin did have a healthy glow to it & that spot that had been brewing on the side of my chin seemed calmer as well. It doesn’t advertise as a spot treatment, but caffeine is known to reduce inflammation so that was a bonus!

My pores don’t appear tighter from it, but again, it doesn’t promise this. But my skin definitely feels slightly rejuvenated.

Here’s the sad part…They’re £20 a mask. I. Freaking. Know. You can get a pack of 5 for £85 on their website as a saver pack. I’d absolutely love to try a course of them, because I think they’d definitely be an asset to a routine, but I just can’t bring myself to fork out that much for a sheet mask.

If you’re looking for a little indulgence or at your wits end in your quest to get glowing skin, I would definitely recommend giving them a try. I don’t think they are a waste of money at all, it’s just got to slot in with whatever budget you have for yourself!

Take a look at their website if you get a chance too – their Black Diamond neck lifting mask looks insane. I’m definitely treating myself to that one day. You can’t forget your neck when it comes to skincare!

Let me know if you’ve tried any of 111SKIN’s products!
