NYX Bare With Me Hydrating Jelly Primer – Review

NYX Bare with me hydrating jelly primer

I just had to pick this new primer up from NYX – it really intrigued me – how can a primer have a jelly texture & work?! It costs £15 for 40g, which I think is a pretty good price for the amount you get, plus you only need to use a small blob – a little goes a long way with this!

No matter how many times you take a bit out, it always settles back to a smooth finish thanks to it’s jelly texture – it’s super satisfying!

So like I said, a little really does go a long way. I apply this clear jelly to my skin after using SPF & just before my foundation. I leave it soak in 2-3 minutes before next steps. It feels so soothing on the skin & turns to a watery-like substance when you massage it in! When I first used it, I thought, ‘oh great, this is just going to be a gimmick,’ as it feels so sticky on your hands once applied. But it smooths the appearance of pores amazingly. They looked blurred & my skin felt hydrated & silky soft – ready for my foundation!

My foundation goes on without any problems with this primer – as it’s a water based jelly, I get no pilling, flaking or patchiness – winner! It blends in smoothly & my pores are definitely less visible!

My skin is combination, so obviously my other concern was that this is labelled as a ‘hydrating’ primer. Normally I stay away from words like that when it comes to makeup! But this didn’t make me extra shiny or produce more oil at all! In fact, my makeup stays in place all day – even on my chin.

When I take my makeup off after using this, my skin doesn’t feel dried out by all the powders etc I have had on all day! Looking back, I can’t even think of one fault with this primer so far.. Wow!

Have you tried this primer yet? If you’re struggling to find a great primer, I’d definitely recommend this one – it works amazingly with MAC Studio Fix foundation, which is what I use daily. Let me know if you’ve tried it with other foundations!
