AlumierMD Clearshield SPF Broad Spectrum 42 – Review

Alumiermd clearshield spf

I’ve been using this particular SPF for the past 4 months. It’s from the same company that I receive my chemical peels from. This SPF is aimed at those with oily or combination skin, which I think is brilliant as I bet there’s a high percentage of oily people out there who absolutely refuse to apply SPF just in case it breaks them out or makes them extra shiny! It’s a physical sunscreen which means it sits on top of your skin & reflects the suns rays before they have a chance to absorb into your skin – my favourite!

The consistency of this sunscreen is quite runny, it’s white, but it does have a pink-ish tint to it. When I first applied this, I panicked as I had such a white cast from it, but I gave it 2 minutes & it soaked in amazingly. I use this everyday in the mornings as my moisturiser – I cleanse & tone my face, apply this & then move onto my makeup routine. It’s hydrating enough for me that I don’t need any extra too – bonus! I wore this throughout the boiling weather we had over lockdown & my face & neck didn’t burn once, not even any pink=ness. Woohoo – no wrinkles for me!

The main ingredients from their site are here:

Micronized Zinc Oxide: A safe, micro-fine mineral that offers broad-spectrum protection from both UVA (aging) and UVB (sunburn-causing) rays without leaving residual chalkiness on skin. Zinc oxide is known as a physical sunscreen agent, largely reflecting and scattering UV rays.

Titanium Dioxide: A safe naturally occurring mineral coated for sun stability, titanium dioxide offers broad-spectrum protection from both UVA (aging) and UVB (sunburn-causing) rays. Like zinc oxide, titanium dioxide is known as a physical sunscreen agent, largely reflecting and scattering UV rays.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): Niacinamide increases ceramides and free fatty acids in the skin, which are key components of its protective lipid barrier. Along with keeping in moisture and boosting hydration, it also calms redness and brightens skin.

Hyaluronic Acid: A complex sugar molecule occurring naturally in the body, hyaluronic acid hydrates by drawing water into the outer layers from deep within the skin. It holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water, and makes skin plumper, softer and smoother.

I absolutely love that it contains Niacinamide – it’s well known for controlling redness which is something I suffer with.

I’ve found this SPF to be the most amazing base for my makeup. It gives me a really hydrating, oil-free base & doesn’t cause it to separate throughout the day. It smoothes the look of my skin out before I even put makeup on. I actually feel comfortable just applying this & popping to the shops because my redness doesn’t show through & I just look glowy & hydrated!

I really recommend this SPF if you’re looking for something that doesn’t disturb your makeup or smoothes out your skin. Obviously you have to wear SPF everyday, even if it’s cloudy or you’re just sitting in your house, so make sure you’re doing this!

This SPF costs £39.50 for 60ml, which I think is brilliant for a medical-grade brand. The amount on my hand in the photo is what I use to cover my face each day, I think the tube will last me between 3-6 months, so a tenner a month doesn’t sound so bad then, does it?

You can get more info or order it through @Salt__Beauty – just pop them a DM, they have a skincare specialist. You can’t order AlumierMD products online as it is medical-grade.
