Today I’m going to talk you through these five products, and why I’ve introduced them to my every day diet.
I literally cannot live without lemons in my house any more. If you’re like me and you struggle to drink enough water throughout the day, I suggest introducing lemons to your water! I cut two thick slices of lemon, add three cubes of ice, squeeze the slices into the glass to get the juice out and drop them in, then add water. It makes such a difference, I promise! I went from struggling to even drink 500ml a day, to drinking at least 1.5l, which I know is still not ideal, but a major improvement! It’s refreshing and a change from boring old water! You can also use lemon to rub on your face to reduce scarring or even leave half in the fridge to abosrb nasty smells!
Another way to make sure you’re drinking plenty and getting the health benefits is green tea! My personal preference is loose leaf, I find the bags leave a funny taste! I try and drink 4 mugs of this a day! In the week, I’ll have one before work, then one when I come home and start making dinner, then I try to top up two more times when I’m eating dinner and before bed! Seems excessive, but if you google health benefits of green tea, you will want to get as much as you can! It’s good for everything, your skin, your health, and it actually tastes pretty good! I love it! You can also use the tea leaves as a face mask once you’ve drank the tea! Be careful as it can get messy! But it can reduce redness, add moisture and leave your skin soft!
I’ve majorly cut dairy out of my life. Ive done this for the past 6 months now. I haven’t completely cut it out, because who can live without cheese?! It’d be a crime. As soon as I cut most dairy out, my skin calmed down so much! It was insane! The redness greatly reduced, my skin didn’t look as angry and inflamed and I just felt better in myself. I use this coconut milk now, on cereals mainly, I found it hard to cut milk out to begin with because of cereal! I tried almond milk, a milk substitute and then this. This is the only one without an awful taste! It’s subtle, you can taste the coconut in it, but it’s the closest to milk I’ll get I think! It is more expensive than normal milk, I think around £1.50, but tesco usually have good 3 for 2 deals on this! There’s also some amazing vitamins in this too, it just feels healthier and lighter than milk!
I’ve suffered with iron deficiency since I was 7, but was never diagnosed until I was 15. I was put on insanely strong medicine, which made me so ill, I had to retake my AS Level year at school. I’ve only recently bought these, they’re just enough for my recommended daily intake, so not an overload! I know it’s going to take a few weeks for these to settle into my system and make a difference, but I wanted to include these because your iron intake is so important. If you don’t have enough, you can feel constantly fatigued, have joint/muscle pain – trust me, you don’t even want this one problem! It makes it hard for you to concentrate on anything for even short amounts of time. I used to sleep for 16 hours a day, couldn’t focus on my school work, and the times I was awake, I’d be in agony with muscle pain! You can get iron from eating greens, peas and broccoli are my faves! Stay away from spinach, it’s actually an iron inhibitor! Not many people know this.
This is also a new addition! Hyaluronic acid is used in a lot of moisturisers and serums nowadays, especially for dry or dehydrated skin. It has the ability to hold 1000 times its weight in moisture! You can imagine it leaves your skin feeling smooth and supple! I decided to try the tablet version of this. It recommends, 1-3 tablets a day. I’ve started with one a day, as it’s not a necessity in my life, but I thought it could do wonders for my skin in general, not just on my face!! I’ll keep you updated with this one. These tablets are pretty expensive, £9.99 for 30 tablets, but there’s buy one get one half price at Holland and Barrett at the moment, so make the most while that’s there!
If there’s any changes you’ve made, or any additions you’ve got to your daily routine, whether it be diet related or beauty/skincare, let me know!
